The Roots- Black Thought Explains 'James Brown' Movie Role

There are times where Black Thought misses a taping or two of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In those instances, Black Thought calls on a talented friend to sit-in for him.

Charlamagne was shocked that Black Thought could ever miss a taping and asked why. When it's not a family emergency, Black Thought is usually caught up in scheduling conflicts because he's on a movie set.

"[Last summer] I was doing that James Brown movie that's coming out later this summer. I think it's gonna be good," stated Black Thought. 

"... I play Pee Wee Ellis, the saxophonist. Me and Craig Robinson, we were the only two musicians in the band that didn't actually play the instruments they played in the movie."

The Roots' latest album, ... And Then Shoot Your Cousin which is another way to say, "keep your enemies closer," says QuestLove. However, the new album isn't all the Breakfast Club discussed with the Philly born crew.
